31st District: Republican incumbent state Rep. Sheila Solon is the clear choice in this district. She is being challenged by Dan Stacy, a business owner who received $25,000 in Humphreys contributions to fund the contest.
The winner on Aug. 2 will be seated in January because there is no Democrat running.
Solon has held the seat since 2010. She is an effective lawmaker. Her measures to improve the way colleges and universities handle sexual assault cases and one prescribing how video from police body cameras is handled were signed into law.
Her refusal to support right-to-work legislation, which she says the district overwhelmingly opposes, is a hot-button issue for Stacy.
Supporting Sheila Solon for re-election
I have known (District 31 state Rep.) Sheila Solon (R-Blue Springs) since she served in the PTA about 18 years ago. I have always been impressed by her enthusiasm and passion for anything she takes upon herself to put effort into.
You can know for sure she will keep the most important priorities first and conduct herself with honor and integrity for whatever the mission is that she is championing at that time.
We need more Sheila Solons in public service. Her positive attitude is infectious, which is crucial for effecting positive change in our government today.
Cast your vote for Sheila Solon in August primary
As a former resident of Blue Springs, I have known Rep. Sheila Solon of the 31st District for many years and have found her to be forthcoming with her proven ability to study both sides of an issue before casting a vote.
She and I have not always agreed on her vote, but I do feel that she is a decent and caring individual and wants to do the right thing for all citizens with her intuitiveness and efforts. I feel that she works hard on behalf of her constituents and shows them respect and concern. The bills she has presented to the House prove that she truly wants Missouri to be a better place for all its people.
Please vote for Sheila in the August primary. Thank you – see you at the polls.
Thanks to Solon for help in adoption process
This letter is in regards to the gratitude and appreciation for Sheila Solon and her staff for all of the help and research they acquired for me and my family in past four years with our adoption process.
She and her staff were a very big part in our success of adoption. She was very thorough with her research and was very quick at getting answers back to us. She did what she said she would do, so if she says she is going to do something, she definitely will.
I hope voters will definitely seek her for re-election. She is a very honest and down to earth person, but at the same time very strong.
Thank you so much again, Sheila, we think of you often. Vote Sheila Solon!
Solon helped with getting passports
We would like to share our experience with Sheila Solon. A few years ago we were obtaining the required birth certificates to get passports. The Independence Health Department could not find my husband’s information in their records.
He has always worked, paid taxes and even spent a year being shot at in Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Army. There was a record of a Ceule birth, but without a first name. We filled out the proper documents and sent them to Jefferson City.
Days went by, then weeks and time was getting short to apply for the passports. When I called to inquire, I was told it would be weeks before those documents would be taken care of. I called Sheila's office and within two days the proper documentation was in the mail.
We are grateful to have Sheila Solon supporting us as the state representative of District 31. Please vote for her so that she can continue to work for us.
